Purpose
Turn a company’s investment case into a presentation that makes the case investable: a deck that distils complex business content into clear messages, gives investors the inputs they need to value the company, and delivers consistent messaging to every investor who sees it.
The deck is not a company description. It is an argument for why an investor should own the shares, structured so that a fund can build a model, form a view on price and risk, and track delivery over time.
One story, told simply. An exceptional deck tells one narrative, stated whole on the investment highlights slide and advanced by every slide after it, so that the headlines alone tell the case. It does two jobs at once. It gives an investor everything needed to put a fair value on the company themselves: the growth, the margins, the capital the plan needs and the risk around it, the five factors a valuation rests on. And it makes the upside tangible: where the plan takes the company, what it is worth to own that trajectory, and when investors will see the proof. The company supplies the inputs and the upside; the investor draws the value. A slide that serves neither job does not belong in the main deck.
Two outputs, two voices. The method produces the company's deck and Capient's working papers. The deck is the company speaking to investors: its own voice, its own facts, its own plan. The working papers (the coverage diagnostic, the competitive advantage assessment, the gap list and the self-check) are Capient's analysis for the adviser. They shape the deck; they never appear on it.
Output package — deliverables
| Deliverable | Content |
|---|---|
| Coverage diagnostic | Ten-topic assessment of source material with evidence quality and gaps |
| Competitive advantage assessment | Nine-driver screen with evidence, metric, and durability per driver, plus the ROIC reconciliation |
| Audience and stage definition | Investor types targeted, stage branch, target length, topic weighting |
| Data and disclosure gap list | Gaps with severity and recommended action |
| Slide-by-slide outline | Headline, content, illustration, source, and “so what” per slide |
| Self-check report | Pass/fail against the nine checks in Step 2g |
| Investor presentation (PPTX) | Built in the company’s template from the approved outline |
| Outstanding items list | Data gaps and unbuildable requests, for the adviser |

Format the working papers with clear headers and tables, tagging inferences as (Inferred) and missing data as (Data needed: [description]). These tags belong to the working papers only, never to the deck.
